Ruth McMahon Memorial Canine Care Fund
(“Ruth’s Fund”)

Ruth McMahon was a founding board member, Board Secretary, and a dedicated New Leash volunteer and foster. She was always involved in helping animals in need. She rescued and adopted many dogs and cats saved from the streets of Pittsburgh, where she grew up, and in Philadelphia, where she spent her adulthood. As a result of Ruth’s dedication, her two children and husband, Jack, also became active in helping lost animals.

Ruth devoted her career to the skill of court reporting, including a 20-plus-year career in the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County, reporting court proceedings in areas of the law ranging from criminal cases to medical malpractice, aviation litigation and class actions. She also started her own boutique freelance court reporting firm in 2004, focusing on aviation litigations and traveling around the United States and Europe reporting depositions of experts in airplane crash cases.

New Leash is grateful for Ruth’s service to our community. Her leadership made an immeasurable impact on our organization and the hundreds of individuals and animals we serve. We are proud to honor her passion for at-risk animals like Rumple (below) through the creation of Ruth’s Fund.

Ruth’s Fund will provide whatever is needed for the at-risk dogs rescued by New Leash, especially those who need extra care.

Help us continue Ruth’s legacy of compassion and generosity toward those who need our help the most.
